A magnetic powder clutch is an industrial control component that transmits torque based on electromagnetic principles and magnetic powder. Its core feature is that excitation current is basically linearly proportional to transmitted torque, featuring fast response and low noise.
It precisely adjusts output torque by controlling current magnitude, and is widely applied to mechanical equipment requiring constant tension or buffered startup.
Magnetic Powder Clutch
Today we will mainly look into the details of daily operation and maintenance for magnetic powder clutches.
(1) Daily Inspection
Confirm the standard power supply is DC24V; AC power and high-voltage input are prohibited.
Listen for abnormal noise during operation; unusual sound is mostly caused by agglomerated magnetic powder or bearing wear.
Housing temperature ≤90℃. Shut down immediately to inspect fans or water circuits if the housing feels overheated.
Observe tension fluctuation of coiled materials; fluctuations are generally caused by magnetic powder loss.

(2) Periodic Maintenance
Heat Dissipation System
Clean dust on air cooling fan filters every week; flush water cooling pipelines to remove scale monthly to avoid temperature rise due to blockage.
Magnetic Powder Inspection (Core Consumable)
Significant torque drop, unstable tension or drag torque under no load indicates worn and insufficient magnetic powder. Open the end cover and replenish alloy magnetic powder of the same model. Do not mix with ordinary iron powder, which may cause sintering and seizure.
Bearing Lubrication
Fill high-temperature grease into bearings every 3 months; replace waterproof and dustproof seals in a timely manner once they fail.
Sealing Components
Replace end cover oil seals immediately once aging and powder leakage occurs. Magnetic powder entering bearings will directly lock the rotor.
Environmental Protection
Install protective covers for workshops with high humidity to prevent water vapor from entering the magnetic powder cavity and causing powder agglomeration. Regularly blow dust off cooling fins on the housing for equipment operating in dusty environments.
(3) Maintenance for Long-term Shutdown
Drain excess magnetic powder and keep a small amount of lubricating magnetic powder inside the cavity. Store in a dry environment. Power on and run for 1 minute every month to prevent magnetic powder agglomeration.
