An electromagnetic brake is an electromechanical integrated component that relies on electromagnetic attraction to realize rapid braking and maintain shutdown. It supports two control logics: power-on and power-off. Matched with motors, servo systems and rotary table equipment, it achieves precise braking, anti-creep positioning and locking during shutdown.

Today we will mainly talk about the common faults, causes and solutions of electromagnetic brakes.
1. Slipping and unable to lock the shaft after power-off
Causes: Aluminum scraps or oil stains attached on friction plates, excessive clearance, fatigue fracture of springs;

Solutions: Clean friction plates, adjust clearance, replace brake springs.
2. Motor fails to rotate after power-on and the load is excessive
Cause: The clearance is too small, leading to continuous dragging contact of friction plates;
Solution: Add or remove adjusting gaskets, the standard clearance is about 0.3mm.
3. Abnormal noise and vibration during braking
Causes: Loose precision fixing screws, uneven wear of friction plates, shaft misalignment;
Solutions: Tighten screws, replace friction plates, correct motor coaxiality.
4. Overheating and burnout of the coil
Causes: Mismatched voltage, circuit short circuit, long-term partial dragging of the brake;
Solutions: Verify DC24V voltage, overhaul circuits, adjust clearance to eliminate dragging.
5. Rotary table positioning deviation and poor press-fitting dimension
Cause: Insufficient brake torque resulting in slight shifting of rotary table after stopping;
Solution: Install thicker friction plates and reduce brake clearance.
