What are the aspects of standardized daily maintenance for electromagnetic brakes?

Electromagnetic brake is an electrically controlled braking actuator. It cooperates electromagnetic attraction force with built-in tension springs to realize shaft locking and shutdown. It is widely matched with servo motors, presses, aluminum sawing machines, transport trolleys and other automated equipment, supporting remote electric control and safe locking upon power failure.

Today we will mainly discuss the aspects of standardized daily maintenance for electromagnetic brakes.

1. Pre-shift daily inspection

No-load power-on and power-off test: complete release when powered on, rapid locking upon power-off without jamming;

Check the braking surface and clear aluminum scraps, dust and oil stains (oil stains will greatly reduce the friction coefficient and lead to braking failure);

Listen for abnormal operating noise; scraping sound of friction plates indicates abnormal clearance.

2. Weekly Maintenance

Inspect built-in reset tension springs: check for elongation, corrosion and fracture. Weak spring rebound will result in failure to lock the shaft after power-off;

Measure the air gap with a feeler gauge (standard: 0.3~0.8mm). Wear of friction plates will widen the air gap, leading to insufficient suction and failure to release the brake;

Clean dust in coil heat dissipation gaps to avoid coil burnout caused by overheating.

3. Monthly In-depth Maintenance

Disassemble and clean the contact surfaces of friction plates and armatures; lubricating oil application is prohibited;

Detect coil resistance; replace the coil if the value deviates excessively;

Replace friction plates directly when their thickness is lower than the limit dimension;

Tighten mounting screws to prevent partial wear caused by offset due to vibration.

4. Maintenance for Long-term Shutdown

Disconnect the power supply and clear dust. Cover friction surfaces for dust prevention, and apply a thin layer of anti-rust oil on springs.
